Paper Politicks
If there was one newspaper publication in Singapore I'd gauge to be the least tainted – okay, influenced – by government bodies, it would have been The New Paper. For all it's trashiness (oh, come on, we all know it) and sell-out articles, I thought it could at least be relied on not to skew on any obvious political stance.

Well, apparently not.

Recently read an entire 2-page article on the (and I quote) "antics" of Dr. Chee Soon Juan and his party, calling his attempts to protest against the Myanmar crackdown a "farce". Personally, I have no intention of ever letting the SDP run the country, but trying to get the whole nation to mock the efforts of 4 people standing in the rain and trying to make a stand is just low, even for New Paper's standards.

Because you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone else in Singapore who'd be willing to stand up for something without the backing of a large group of people (we all know how Singaporeans love following crowds) or some form of authority. So regardless of what their stand may be, I really do admire their courage.

It's not easy to be different when everyone else is trying to fit in.

So, New Paper, just slip in a few more pages of sports news (or a full page photo of Cristiano Ronaldo, if you're starved for options) and lay off on the attempts at any kind of political agenda, please.

The Hindu Times
For those of you who haven't already found out the hard way, the Hindu pantheon (and its subsequent forms of artistic representations) is an ambiguously convoluted subject. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't enjoy reading up the myths or learning the real name of the Elephant god – it's just that being tested on my understanding and ability to summarize this information into bite-sized chunks is quite another matter. So while I'm becoming quite the Shiva expert, I don't entirely relish the continuous streams of Hindu phrases that bombard my dreams every night. Bhikshantanamurti sheep are not particularly easy to count.

Oooh!
Look what I found in the trash.

I decided to put it up because it just so happens to coincide exactly with my mental wishlist. How uncanny!

Dawn

0830

Two
hours
too late,
my friend.

For the
chance
of
a life
time.

She
was
there
with her
raven
hair,

but
dawn
came
before this
rhyme.
